Oakfield, NY – Two Hurt in Two-Car Crash on SR 262 at Fisher Rd

Oakfield, NY (June 17, 2025) – A serious two-vehicle collision occurred in the Town of Oakfield on June 14 that sent two men to medical facilities, one with critical injuries. According to the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office, the crash took place at around 6:19 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 262 and Fisher Road.

Officials say 47-year-old Wesley Ditton of Apalachin was driving a Hyundai when he allegedly failed to yield the right of way while entering the intersection. As he moved forward, his vehicle was struck on the driver’s side by a westbound Ford pickup truck driven by 34-year-old Chad Bruning of Byron.

The force of the collision sent both vehicles off the south shoulder of State Route 262. Emergency responders rushed to the scene to assist the victims. Ditton had to be extricated from his vehicle and was flown by Mercy Flight to receive treatment for life-threatening injuries. Bruning sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. Authorities confirmed that the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
