Amherst, NY (August 15, 2025) – Emergency crews rushed to the scene of a serious two-vehicle accident that occurred on Thursday, August 14, along Sheridan Drive near Fleetwood Terrace.
At approximately 3:22 p.m., Amherst Police say a gray Honda Element, driven by a 71-year-old woman from Williamsville, was traveling eastbound when it veered into the opposite lanes and struck a westbound gray Toyota Camry head-on. The violent crash caused significant damage to both vehicles and disrupted traffic in the area for an extended period while crews worked the scene.
The elderly driver of the Honda sustained serious injuries and required transportation to Erie County Medical Center for further treatment. The 19-year-old male driver of the Toyota, a Buffalo resident, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. He was also taken to ECMC for further medical care. The roadway was temporarily closed while investigators gathered evidence and cleared the scene.
Police are continuing their investigation into the cause of the crash. Authorities are urging anyone with dash cam or surveillance footage to contact the Amherst Police Department at (716) 689-1311.
We hope both individuals injured in this accident recover swiftly.
